July 6

“The one who trusts will never be dismayed”. To trust is to be certain about – like being certain that a father’s arms can carry a baby. This word for dismayed is interesting. It primarily means to make haste. It figures then that in this context it has the connotation of hurrying around and not being grounded on the firm foundation. In others words, worry and scurrying around to try to make things happen. So, those who think that God will uphold them will not run around like a chicken with their head cut off (inside and outside themselves) to take care of business. They will be found at peace in Christ.

O.k., great concept, what does it mean to me? I will tell you, it means that when I am worrying, fretting, working my butt off to make things happen, I am not trusting that God can carry me through. It is a great diagnosis if we will allow it to reprove us and bring us back to trust. There used to be a saying “you better check yourself”. This is a good check with a promise – make him your foundation and NEVER worry again.
