1 Chronicles 13:3 (NIV84)
3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.”
The Ark of God is where the presence of God dwelt. Now we know that God’s presence fills the earth, but there was a “special presence” that dwelt between the cherubim. During the time of Saul they didn’t inquire of the Lord in His presence. They had the law and they had the prophets, but they didn’t get into the presence of the Lord to inquire of Him.
I believe that the church is in a season in which we are being taught to “get into the Presence” of the Lord. Yes we have the Bible, and it is His powerful and effective Word which should NOT be diminished whatsoever by the concept and action of getting into the presence. We also know that God is everywhere, but there is a “special presence” that “shows up” in our lives when we seek His presence and when we gather. I believe that God wants us to dwell with Him – in His presence! Not merely knowing Him from His Word – which is a way He gave us to know Him – but knowing Him by spending time in His presence.
1 Chronicles 13:14 (NIV84)
14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
Enough said – get in the presence of God
