Jacob was hired with mandrakes?! What is that about? What about all the jealousy? Of course we look back at it now and say how could God build the 12 tribes of Israel through 2 wives and 2 handmaids? Well He did! In spite of what we think is a little (or a lot) wacky, God still works! His purposes will come and He will use the imperfect to bring them. That gives me such hope and courage to believe that God will use me powerfully!
The other thing is that I would like to question God about this. I mean it looks a little odd and “out of order” of what we know to be God’s revealed will. God will not be questioned by me or anyone else. He is God and will use who He will use. What does He say to Job, “who are you to…” (fill in the blank). This is history, and if we let it, it will teach us wonderful lessons about God and His dealings with humans, especially His grace with our weaknesses.
He will use us if we are willing and sometimes even when we are not!
