Luke 16:13 (NIV)
13 “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”
This is more than a caution, more than a rebuke, more than good information. It is the Spirit of God impelling us when we read this to be sold out to God. It is the divine principle that we get married under, “one love”. We can’t be all out or in poker talk, “all in” if we are somewhat “in” with something that opposes what we desire to be “all in” with. In other words, Jesus is stating that if we are “all in” with the Kingdom of God, we have to be “all out” (as in done with) everything else. This shouldn’t be a strange concept to us yet it is difficult to do. I think because it is difficult we tend to put it out of our minds so we don’t think about it because it is hard. The fact is this – if we want all of God, God has to have all of us. The graciousness of God never ceases to amaze me, His mercies are new every morning, His forgiveness has no limit, however if we want ALL of it (it being the Kingdom reign – love, power, grace, miracles), then we have to make EVERYTHING subordinate to God. When we do – WOW – will we have our socks knocked off with his love, His power and strength, and His presence!
